We are happy to share that Albert Rocha, a Cardiovascular Tech from the Cath Lab Department at Texas Emergency Hospital, was recently awarded the EHS Rock Award. This award is a special recognition introduced by EHS to acknowledge outstanding non-clinical staff who promote an environment of care and compassion within the organization.
Albert was nominated by a colleague who recognized his kindness and patience in teaching others, especially those interested in learning about the Cath Lab. Other nominees were Destiny Mason and Stacey Matlock. The winner of the Rock Award was announced during the Traveling Breakfast event held in November at Texas Emergency Hospital and received a certificate of recognition and a rock sculpture.
One of the most remarkable incidents that led to his nomination was when Albert was called upon to assist a Spanish-speaking adolescent who entered the ER for a mental health issue. Albert’s calm and caring approach and proficiency in Spanish helped the patient feel comfortable and reassured. His actions were instrumental in facilitating the nursing staff’s safe and effective assessment and assistance of the patient.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Albert Rocha for being the well-deserving recipient of the Rock Award. His contribution to fostering a compassionate and respectful care environment within EHS is highly appreciated.
The Rock Award was introduced in 2023 to acknowledge the memory of two beloved staff members, Taylor Nava and Gregory Robinson, whose passing left an enduring mark on our organization.
Recipients of the Award play an essential role in shaping a workplace where trust, compassion, mutual respect, continued professional development, and ethical behavior are modeled and actively encouraged.
