CELEBRATING AMERICAN HEART MONTH

February is National Heart Month and EHS is joining the movement by encouraging doctors, community partners and staff to wear red awareness t-shirts every Friday in February.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and stroke are the number one and number three causes of death in Texas.

The good news is that these chronic diseases can be prevented with changes in the lifestyle and habits, such as:  commitment to engage in regular physical activity, healthy nutrition, smoking cessation; control of high blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes as well as maintaining a healthy weight.

We are committed to prevent, treat and manage chronic diseases.  So, educating our community to prevent risk factors associated to CVD, and responding and treating heart diseases when they appear is critical for us.

EHS in partnership with Angels Care Home Health is offering community classes every 3rd Thursday of the month on various topics related to health and care. On February 21st, members of our community will have the opportunity to attend an educational session on the topic:  “Healthy Heart for Life”.

To help promote awareness on CVD, we are motivating our employees to make a contribution in exchange to wear Red each Friday. Donation could be $1 dollar or food. All proceedings will go to “Heaven’s Army Home of Amazing Grace” -a New-Caney based nonprofit organization founded by Lanora Purvis-.

As part of our expansion, we recently opened a State of Art cardiac cath laboratory which is the finest in the area. With a dedicated team of nurses and technicians, EHS can respond to heart attacks quickly.
