Cassie Kavanaugh MPH, BSN, RN
Chief Nursing Officer
Texas Emergency Hospital
Cassie started her career over twenty-five years ago in healthcare, working as a clerk in a charity lab in Louisiana. Cassie decided to become a Nursing Assistant and found her love for hands on care of patients.
She went to Northeast Texas Community College where she obtained an Associate Degree and received her Licensed Vocational Nursing. She worked on a telemetry and medical surgical floor as an LVN while obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Tyler.
Upon graduation and receiving her RN license Cassie then went to work in a level three emergency department. Cassie desired more cardiac experience and left the ER to work in a level two trauma center that was ranked in cardiovascular surgery, trauma and stroke.
She was accepted into the ICU internship program this hospital offered and worked on staff as an ICU nurse for almost ten years. The ICU was a blended unit, meaning patient assignments would one week involve an open heart patient and the next week could be a head trauma. While working as an ICU nurse Cassie was accepted to Texas A & M University with the School of Rural Public Health. Cassie received a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Health Policy and Management.
Cassie felt as if she needed a change and was ready to start her management career. She accepted a job as a Nurse Manager for free standing Emergency Departments, Urgent Care Clinics and Occupational Health Clinics. During this time, Cassie helped to open new EDs, Urgent Care Clinics and Occupational Clinics.
Cassie was then offered a consultation job as a Director to assist with improving a facility and setting up a new building for this organization. Cassie improved their CMS ranking from a one star to a four star ranking over a two-year span. Once the consultation job was completed, Cassie went onto manage a 120 bed hospital with a sixteen bed ICU with the rest of the hospital making up IMU, Telemetry and Medical Surgical beds.
Cassie is currently working on her second Master’s degree. She is hoping to complete the Masters of Business Administration from Louisiana State University in May 2020.
Cassie feels Emergency Hospital Systems is a great fit with her clinical background and personality. She looks forward to helping the hospital organization continue to grow and obtain new accomplishments and services to better the Cleveland community.
