The rapid response of our trauma team saved the life of a minor who arrived to EHS-Deerbrook emergency room with a gunshot wound in January 2021.
The child was stabilized, treated, and transported to a nearby trauma center for definitive care in a timely and safe manner.
Inter-facility transfers protocols stipulate a maximum of 120 minutes to transfer a trauma patient to a trauma center. At EHS-Deerbrook we completed the treatment and transfer to a trauma center of the injured minor in just 40 minutes. During this time, the minor received IVs, tests, X-rays, and laboratory tests, in addition to being transported by ambulance.
This result was achieved thanks to the quick response of the trauma team and its coordinated effort and communications.
We want to thank our trauma team for having achieved this outcome of stabilizing and transferring the minor in such short period of time.
Thanks for saving lives and for making a difference!
