Emergency Hospital Systems opened its laboratory in 2018 providing fast and accurate test results to the communities it serves.
The lab combines innovation with highly qualified staff making it possible to conduct more tests, with high levels of accuracy and in a brief period of time.
The State-of-the-Art lab located at the ground floor of the Texas Emergency Hospital (TEH) in Cleveland provides clinical chemistry testing, hematology, toxicology screening, urine analysis, and reproductive testing, as well as other diagnostic test such as detection of Helicobacter Pylori and influenza viruses among others, like COVID-19 antigen test and IgM/IgB antibody Tests.
The laboratory is open to all physicians, hospitals, clinics, and companies that need lab testing, and can provide results as quickly as two hours after receiving the sample. Results can be viewed at the laboratory information system that the lab has in place online.
Currently the laboratory is serving the five facilities of the Emergency Hospital Systems. Samples are collected from the hospitals located in Porter, The Woodlands, Cleveland and Deerbrook and drove to the main lab at Texas Emergency Hospital for analysis.
The laboratory is run by highly qualified technicians and technologists under the management of George Zeinieh MT Laboratory Director for all five locations. Dr. Jessie Adame, MD is the Medical Laboratory Director for Texas Emergency Hospital and Cleveland Emergency Hospital and Dr. Albert Chen, MD is the Medical Laboratory Director for EHS-The Woodlands, EHS-Deerbrook, EHS-Porter. Additionally, the lab has full time technicians and a full crew of Phlebotomists and commercial drivers that supports the collection and transportation of specimens.
We understand how important it is for doctors to rely on accurate and fast lab tests for making critical clinical decisions. Aware of that, we have taken the extra mile by bringing the latest technology and innovation to our lab so physicians from our surrounding areas would be better served,” said Laboratory Director, George Zeinieh, MT.
State-of-the-Art Equipment
Some of the equipment already in place in the lab include: The Beckman Coulter DxC 700 AU Chemistry Analyzer, which performs general checkup tests including kidney function tests, liver function tests, lipid profile, cardiac enzymes, therapeutics such as vancomycin level, acetaminophen level, salicylates level, and comprehensive drug screen panels, plus alcohol level.
The Beckman DXI 600 immunoassay analyzer which provides advanced testing such as cardiac markers and comprehensive thyroid panels and comprehensive anemia panels.
The Sysmex SN-430 N is a State-of-the-Art hematology analyzer that provides complete blood count including five-part differential and ability to identify the immature granulocytes counts.
The I-STAT Machine is used to monitor de blood gases levels and lactate in case of septic cases along with the ability to monitor the anticoagulant therapy in the Cath Lab.
The Sofia Analyzer which enables a rapid detection of influenza A and B viruses, Strep A+, RSV-SARS and the POC analyzer for the detection of Helicobacter Pylori bacteria on breath test.
Texas Emergency Hospital recently have an agreement with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center to provide blood and blood products and services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and to provide transfusion services to the growing demands for such a great service in case of an emergency and eliminate travel time for our patient population to the surrounding facility for routine and schedule transfusion.
