Upgraded Hospital Clinical Lab At Deerbrook

With the opening of our new hospital in Deerbrook, the clinical laboratory that was running at this location has been upgraded to become a hospital clinical laboratory providing more services to our inpatients, med surg and outpatients.

The lab has sophisticated equipment, such as the hematology testing analyzer running on Cell DYN Emerald, which is a five-part differential analyzer that identifies blood count abnormalities. This machine eliminates the need to send out the samples to a reference lab. The lab also has an I-STAT analyzer with ACT (Activitated Clotting Time) which is used as monitoring during Cath Lab procedures, ABG with Lactate (Arterial Blood Gases), and the VBG (Venous Blood Gases) with Lactact, which is an important test to diagnose septic patients. The lab currently offers a wide variety of tests, ranging from standard bloodwork tests, like women health, men health, and sexually transmitted diseases. It also provides blood transfusion services, COVID-19 testing (Rapid Antigen and PCR), Strep A+, Influenza A&B and RSV.

The laboratory Director George Zeinieh said that the expansion of the Laboratory will allow more precise and accurate diagnoses while providing high quality testing and excellent customer service. The lab is located on the first floor of Deerbrook Hospital at 8901 Farm to Market 1960 Bypass Rd W Suite 105 in Humble. It’s staffed by qualified technicians, and opens 24/7, 365 days a year.
