Vaccines For Children 5 Through 11 Years’ Old

Since November 15, the Texas Emergency Hospital Vaccination Hub has been vaccinating children ages 5 to 11 against COVID-19.

The CDC director endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee Practices” (ACIP) on immunization and recommended that children 5 through 11 years of age be vaccinated with the pediatric Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine. Children ages 5 to 11 receive a separate vaccine formulation denoted with an orange cap of the Pfizer-BioTech Covid-19 Vaccine that is one-third of the dose given to adolescents and adults. They receive the vaccine with a smaller needle.

NO APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED TO RECEIVE THE PEDIATRIC VACCINATION.

A parent or legal guardian needs to be present, along with their identification and insurance card (if applicable).

Additionally, our Vaccination Hub continues to provide the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for first and second dose administrations. Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna booster shots are available, and an individual may choose which vaccine they receive as a “mix-and-match” booster dose. Individuals who received a Covid-19 vaccination are eligible at 6 months or more after their series and meet the following criteria:

  • 65 years and older
  • Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
  • Age 18+ who work or live-in high-risk settings

Please visit our website www.emergencyhospitals.care for more Covid-19 vaccination information. We continue to encourage everyone to receive their Covid-19 vaccination, wear a face covering, practice social distancing, and use proper hand hygiene to continue the fight to end Covid-19!
